Hidden Talents

Heading to Horten today. The group of drop-out kids that I held a writing course for earlier this year, are having a presentation. About themselves, how they can be used as a resource and about what they can, even though they don't think school is for them.
Big up!

My visit to Bastøy Prison

The other week I visited Bastøy Prison, and held a writing course for a group of inmates that are leaving prison at some point this year. Bastøy is an open prison on an island outside Horten, and is known as the worlds largest human-ecological prison. The inmates live in small houses (no cells), have different jobs at the island and walk around freely. For a free man, it looks quite idyllic.

Some inmates live in houses like this

This is during a photo-shoot for KK a few weeks ago. This fun shopping article is in KK this week.
The two ladies are Linda Bern and jewellery designer Camilla Prytz. Photographer is Margrethe Myhrer, whom I first got to know in San Sebastian in Spain, last summer. Small world :)

Fashion store Kenzai has opened in Oslo

My lovely friend Kash and his cousin Ario have just opened their own fashion shop, in Oslo: at Nedre Slottsgate 15.
They sell labels such as Flying A, Cheap Monday, Superdry, Rikkemai, etc etc. Check it out online: Kenzai.
When they launched their online store, I modeled their stuff, juhu.

Heading to Bastøy Prison to teach a writing course

Today I'm gonna teach a fun course for a group of male inmates. They've all been in prison for many years, and are on their way out at some point during this year. Looking forward to it. A lot!

For more info on Bastøy, which is an open prison on an island in the oslo fjord, check out the extra dvd material from Michael Moore's SICKO...

Serenity

This picture gives me a sense of peace. If anyone knows who it belongs to, let me know.

Artist Paul Hellsegg's tables

Artist Paul Hellsegg has started making beautiful wooden tables as well as large wall paintings. I recently wrote a piece about him in Aftenposten.

Both table and painting is by the artist. BEAUTY!

Donating Scarf to The Uniform Project

The Uniform Project is a super cool project started by Sheena Matheiken who is wearing the same dress every day for an entire year. Each day, she "reinvents the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments".

I think this project is fab and earlier this year I donated one of my chunky mohair scarves. Sheena chose this colour, and this is how she's worn it over her one and only dress!

The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums.

Straight from Kenya

Carissa is one of my favourite people. She used to assist when I ran ditched magazine in London, years back.
When I'm in London we always meet up, usually in what used to be our hang out The Old Shoreditch Station.

Carissa makes things with her hands & this time she had just arrived back from 3 months in Kenya. Here are some of her pix:
