PALAZZO CHUPI

And some more on Julian Schnabel... This is where he resides and works, in Palazzo Chupi on Manhattan. He's designed the exterior and interior himself. Sometimes he has art exhibition's on the first floor - check it out if you're in NYC.

Photos: Sorry, I've found them in random places on the net. I would love to show, but don't mean to steal. If anyone knows, please let me know where they're from...

Our Staircase comes into Life

A few months ago we had our staircase set up in our apartment, leading up to our renovated loft.
We have designed it ourselves, together with architect Finn Christiansen, and it is the family-run "Lorentzen Trevare" who has custom-made it.

We are so happy with it. Here's the process of them working :)

Copenhagen & AirBnB

Recently Espen and I went to Copenhagen for a long-weekend. We love this place; we've both lived there before. Espen's stay there was a few months after I first met him and we spent some lovely weeks staying in a house boat.

This time we used AirBnB and stayed in this flat, right on St. Hans Torv on Nørrebro. The location was super, the host welcoming (an actor) and the flat charming. Have a look :)

Iris Apfel's Home

I dig style icon Iris Apfel. She's 91 and has GREAT style.

My blog actually started with a picture of her, years ago. Back then I found the picture so inspiring but I had no idea who she was.

Here's pictures from her Manhattan apartment.

Bits and Pieces from our Home

In the midst of boxes and tools, I've unpacked a few of the things I love...

I bought this one in Absolute Vintage in Shoreditch in London. I love the combo; well worn leather and the "mexican" print.
My basket of knitting stuff. Working on a new scarf.
A kitchy plastic bucket from one of the wonderful pakistani shops down town (at Grønland).
Espen making coffee with great precicion. He's the barista in our home. I got the black and gold cup from a  vintage shop in Copenhagen.

A ring (whatever you call it) to put the kettle on. Made by my friend Linn. The place mat is made by me. I loooove african fabrics.
And a pair of "tøfler" (our floow is cold) that I got in Greece some years ago.

The Glow // Maryam Nassir Zadeh

The Glow is a really really inspiring blog (to me), and I suppose to anyone who's a mother, or anyone who'll one day become one, and is quite into fashion, interior and photography.

The Glow is a glimpse into the world of inspiring and fashionable moms! :) Their styling ideas, multitasking secrets, and enviable homes. The blog is edited by by Violet Gaynor anf photographed by Kelly Stuart

I'm quite frightened of the thought of one day becoming a mother. I really really hope I will, but I hope there still will be some SPACE in my life for all those things I love doing. All those egoistic and self-centered things; having time to myself, hanging out with my wonderful boyfriend, friends, my yoga, my work, exploring things, doing creative stuff, reading the newspapers, etc etc.

The Glow makes me dream. Life isn't that polished, but still, dreaming that it's possible to keep doing what I'm doing, feels pretty good.

Here are pictures from the home of iranian-born Maryam Nassir Zade. She has a FANTASTIC boutique on the lower east side in New York, which I LOOOVE! It's impeccably curated. But now; her home. Enjoy!

Renovation - Part II

Espen and I are spending a lot of time figuring out how our new home is going to turn out. We're not doing so much hands-on work these days, but we're planning, having lengthy meetings with the architect, figuring out which builders to use, what kind of style we want etc etc. It's really time-consuming, sometimes frustrating and slightly frightening as this project is so big (renovating the whole flat and building out a new floor on the loft). But we're sticking through, are staying friends (!) and feel fortunate :)

London Townhouse

A few years ago I did this interior piece in London, for Aftenposten. This norwegian/indian family lives Islington, and Arpna - the lady in the floor-matching t-shirt - used to run Pecha Kucha Night here in Oslo before they moved to London, which I now run. This is their lovely town-house. All images are by Charlotte Wiig.

Andrea's new NYC-home

This is my friend Andrea in her new flat in East Village. Lovely place, lovely area! She moved in a week ago, so the other night we had our take-away dumpling-dinner on her floor. We're pretty damn excited.

Welcome to our new Place

We bought this flat in january and have our hands full with renovation work these days. Nothing has been done here since the 1950's. Our plan is to buy the loft and have a 2-floor apartment. I'll share pictures from the process with you here. It's at Lindern, a beautiful neigbourhood, with lots of buildings like ours!

Cement Tiles

My friends Lasse & Joachim import these fantastic cement tiles from Spain. They're office is in a charming old building in Oslo! Do check them out. We might have some of them in our new apartment, but we're not sure which ones yet....
