On our visit to Gol de Letra, we also went to visit Vila Albertina, which is where the school is. Here, Rai is a HERO, who has given the kids in the town opportunities and changed their lives. - And they've changed mine, Rai says :) Here's some "ambience" pictures.
Last night Rai and I went out to a lovely place in my so far favorite area Vila Magdalena, for some traditional capi's (drink) and pasteis (yummy finger-food). We look oh so jolly!
Rai runs a great school called Gol de Letra, which he set up ten years ago, to give kids in a poor area opportunities. The school's aim is to provide opportunities, open their lives to the world and educate them through play, such as sports, music, arts. This school has changed this community in the outskirts of Sao Pualo, with lots of crime, into a prosperous one. Truly amazing! Here is a a school project the kids did - where they made a model of how they wish their own town could be. Check out all the cool details!
I watched The Black Swan the other night. Beautiful visuals, and Natalie Portman was great as always. The plot was a bit too chaotic for my taste though.
Good bye norwegian winter!! I'll be away for three weeks! I've just come home from a weekend in the mountains - and am loving the contrasts of life. I'll pre-write some posts, and then in a few days or a week or so I'll post some pix from Brazil. First I'm off to Sao Paulo. Ta ta!
I've just come home from a trip to the mountains with friends. We've celebrated my friend Linn's 30th birthday. We had a wonderful dinner, had a ski-race, enjoyed the sauna and dipped in the snow!
