CSA-farming, or "andelslandbruk" as we call it, is a fast growing movement. And a great one. Read my long-form article about it for the fantastic and well-reputed DN Magasinet. It was pure joy making this piece, as I've visited farmers across the country who all contribute to making our soil better for future generations.

Can you spare the Cost of a Pencil?
The adoption agency "Adopsjonsforum" got in touch with me last week, asking for some help. They don't just deal with adoptions, but they are also doing a lot to help kids in their home countries. At the moment they are building schools for kids in Gullo Shanto in Ethiopia.
To build these schools, they need financial support, and was wondering if I would like to be a blog-ambassador for this project. Of course I do, and I hope I can help!
Their goal is to collect 800 000 norwegian kroner. That will give 600 children in Ethiopia primary education.

What can we do? Visit the website Vi bygger for barn and help finance books, pens, computers, teachers' wages, electricity, perhaps a fence, well... anything that's needed to set up a school. You can support with as little as 20 kroners, or up to 5000 kroners. It's up to you, everything helps!
And me? I decided to sponsor books, money towards a playground and shoes!

EU & Nobel Peace Prize
I went to Save the Children's peace party today, where the EU-representatives were interviewed by kids aged 12. Well done to the kids - who wondered what EU plans to do for the children living in war-zones, what EU will do to keep on working for peace, if dictators have feelings..?
Here's Jose Barroso on his way out of the Nobel Peace Centre.
I had to be quick, so this is pretty blurry.

Aftenposten Junior - over 10 000 subscribers!
We've been going for less than 5 months, and have now reached 10 000 subscribers, as well as more than 10 000 weekly readers, who buy the paper in the shops every week. The goal was 10 000 by the end of the year, so we're pretty happy!
I'm so pleased that we manage to make a newspaper for children that they actually enjoy reading, where we're teaching them important issues such as the financial crisis, the US election, the situation in Syria, Egypt, on China, pirates in Somalia, etc etc. As well as inspiring stories about kids themselves. What's going on in their world? What inspires them?
I love working with it, and my role as reportasjeleder (don't know what that is in english, perhaps "assistant editor"?). It really enjoyable working on a project that people appreciate, do something that feels important, and hang out with kids.
Here's a few pix :)

Pussy Riot
This is a tribute to the feminist punk-rock collective Pussy Riot. If you haven't heard of them by now, they are a Russian girl-group who stages politically provocative impromptu performances in Moscow. On political subjects such as the status of women in Russia, and most recently against the election campaign of Prime Minister Putin for President.
For this recent political performance three of them has been sent to jail. All of them in their 20ies, two of them mothers.
Today, the pre-trial detention was extended until January 2013. And if convicted they could spend an additional 7 years in prison.
If you think this is unfair... Take action and share ---->>>>http://amnestyusa.org/pussyriot

Seeing Aung San Suu Kyi
I went to the press-conference in Oslo yesterday, to see Aung San Suu Kyi. The places were limited, so I was actually quite pleased that our new kids newspaper, Aftenposten Junior, got priority! It was quite a nice moment, seeing this incredible lady. We waited for 90 minutes until she appeared, but that's ok, she's been waiting for more than 20 years!

World Press Freedom Day - Today!
Not all journalist are as fortunate as I am; I work in country which has complete press freedom and I never have to address the issue when working in my country.
Every year, May 3rd is a date which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom; to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.
This years celebration will take place in Tunisia. Get more info here!

Photographing Occupy Wall Street
In october I spent 4 weeks in New York, and covered Occupy Wall Street for Aftenposten's Innsikt magazine. I hung around the demonstration for days and these people felt as if they were part of making history - which they are/were. I really enjoyed doing this piece and were touched by everyone I had long conversations with. They are fighting for their rights, for justice.
