Our Staircase comes into Life

A few months ago we had our staircase set up in our apartment, leading up to our renovated loft.
We have designed it ourselves, together with architect Finn Christiansen, and it is the family-run "Lorentzen Trevare" who has custom-made it.

We are so happy with it. Here's the process of them working :)

7AM Breakfast on the Floor

We've been renovating for more than a year now! Pooha!

Lately we've been moving in and out of the flat, as the builders are doing the last things at the loft and our made-to-order staircase is being installed. We've lived for 4 months without a bathroom, but a lot fo the time we've borrowed our wonderful neighbour's bathroom as they spend most of their time in Copenhagen.

The other week we had to move all our stuff from the living room, so the staircase could make it's way. I'll show you the stairs soon - I photographed the whole process! Here I'm enjoying my breakfast early that morning, before heading off to work, and before the stairs arrived. And I'm six months pregnant in this picture.

One thing is for sure; We learn to accept the situation we're in, to be patient, to relax and make the most of it under ever-changing circumstances... And that is a taste of some invaluable wisdom!

SUNDAY

Yesterday went on like this; Espen and I went up to Ullevål Hageby to have breakfast at Åpent Bakeri with my brother. My brother is looking after our aunt and uncle's nice dog these days; Vicky. So she came along. After reading newspapers and having a few cups of coffee we went to our place to put up a few Ikea things. Vicky did of course want to be in the middle of everything, my brother hung out in comfortably, I made cacao of fantastic Valhrona chocolate and then my friend May popped by. Nice day. Later on I went to Bikram (which was wonderful as it's minus 17 degrees outside now) and then May and I went to the movies.

Status Quo

December 15th we're moving into our new place. This floor will be done by then (fingers crossed), while the work in the attic will start in january and take a couple of months. It's been a long journey. We're learning a lot about patience and how to co-operate with each other!

Last weekend we started putting up our kitchen. The weekend before we prepared our nice wooden floors, and this weekend we'll continue the kitchen and some more stuff.

Renovation Work // Chapter ?

Patience and stamina are perhaps the most important skills when renovating. They floors are turning out pretty nice... And we're moving in by x-mas, no matter what! Here's Espen & my mum.

 

Our New Bathroom @ Lindern

We're still in the process of renovating our soon-to-be new home. We haven't embarked on the loft yet, so this is what our new bathroom looks like :)
